CLOTHSURGEON mini collection
While studying at Leeds Art University, Tompkins created a mini collection for the Clothsurgeon Savile Row Live Brief competition, in which he was named a runner-up. His concept focused on identity, specifically exploring football culture and the way fans expressed themselves through fashion before the widespread commercialization of football kits. Rather than relying on team-branded merchandise, Tompkins looked at how early football supporters crafted unique, personal styles to show allegiance—often through casual wear, scarves, and terrace fashion. His designs drew on this sense of individuality and community, referencing key elements from vintage sportswear, streetwear, and subcultural influences. By revisiting a time when fan identity was shaped more by local pride and style than commercial branding, Tompkins' collection offered a thoughtful reflection on how football has influenced British fashion and personal expression.
